I get that, though. I do think it's better applied when you look at it the other way around (somebody who behaves in such a way is probably P). I know I'm kind of repelled to the idea of "things" (whatever that may be) actually leaving my grasp, and I think it fits into the idea that perceivers want to have the option to go back to an option that -- even if they realistically will never go back to it -- they perceive as a genuine option.

Oops I think I got him confused with someone else. I don't remember how that happened. Sorry

NP -

- More abstract and more willing to make up completely new ideas - often not using math the "right" way and reinventing methods to suit their preferences.

- Often needs to work with an NJ to get details right and stay organized.

- Go in the office of an NP and there will be stacks everywhere, piles of treasures they can't bear to throw away.

NJ -

- More practical and more likely to fit ideas into existing paradigms, even in high creativity activities.

- More obsessed with using math correctly and accurately.

- May need to work with an NP to help make conceptual breakthroughs, even while doing 95% of the actual implementation.

- Go in the office of an NJ and observe neatly organized books on shelves, trash can filled with stuff they don't need or find distracting.

Which was Turing?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/8-things-didnt-know-alan-turing

"He got bad to mediocre grades in school, followed by many complaints from his teachers. His English teacher wrote:

“I can forgive his writing, though it is the worst I have ever seen, and I try to view tolerantly his unswerving inexactitude and slipshod, dirty, work, inconsistent though such inexactitude is in a utilitarian; but I cannot forgive the stupidity of his attitude towards sane discussion on the New Testament.”

His math and science grades weren’t much better. He was nearly stopped from taking the national School Certificate exams on the subject, for fear he would fail."

Besides his interest in morphogenesis and daisies.

Sounds INTP to me.

Pattern recognition obsession is N or should just be N i don't see why it should be p or j

Love of nonlinear equations and conceptual constructs.  Abstractions and philosophical approach to problem solving.  Pattern recognition obsessions.

Fluid handwriting that borders on shorthand - not typical of a "J."

I vote INTP.

He was a probably J in MBTI. Idk what you P voters are thinking, or if it's "strong in judging function so therefore perceiver" but that ain't MBTI.
