The 16types forum has him as ESI, but in russialand he’s seen nearly unanimously as SEE. No idea how that makes sense.

Well, he's almost always typed NF, and even in Socionic forum he was mainly typed ESI. Of course that doesn't prove much.

Honestly, I need to know more about his actual tought process to properly type him.

I can see a 1 slhaving an ieal about himself as a rational person above all even when not really rue, then again T 1 are prob the most moralistic T.

Can....can T types not have values? Tolstoy was a hardcore rationalist with a god complex. His life was consumed with trying to apply rational thought to irrational questions of life and faith and death. He literally re-wrote the gospel to remove any hint of the supernatural and sought to rearrange the story to fit a more logical pattern because he hated how irrational all the mysticism and spiritual stuff was. His staunch rationalist beliefs created friction with his growing realization of life as being inherently meaningless. And this was the impetus for the creation of many of his stories. If he took an MBTI test I'm reasonably sure he would score way, way higher on T than F.

In fact, I....dunno its hard for me to see him as F at all. He seems classically "rationality over sentimentality" to me. I dunno how he'd be F.

I know he became a hardened dogmatist in a ITJ sort of way after his Christian rebirth, but what kind of man was he before ?
Isn't his concern with human soul in Anna Karenina an F trait ?
And how would you compare his take on morality with that of Dostoevsky ?
