	He pontificated on his work in such a way that frequently defaulted to conceptual analyses and led to wider statements about the nature of the world and/or the human world. I don't necessarily see him as pain driven or striving for individuation on account of pain or desire and I think I'll agree with Bob's 5w4 typing because of that...there's a will unto madness of the mental variety in particular with Poe that seems to allow him to emerge as an all-knowing truth teller who occasions his direction by a conception of fate. Really not that dissimilar from the Nietzsche who wrote poems and The Birth of Tragedy. Of course it depends on where you draw the line between five and four, but there's a different sort of cold-blooded emotionality you get with Poe that is not so interpersonal and seems to derive its emotions from the purely possible and conceptual. True that he's Ni like Kafka, but I see a strong divergence here with Kafka who was much more F and self-referential in his work.
